Continuing the journey…

I’ve decided to focus more on my drawing practice these days, so today I’ve created a new charcoal portrait. And I must say I’m enjoying this process so much!

I put on some music, start sketching, and then try to stay loose and let the drawing arise from some part deeper inside of me. Trying to connect and stay in touch with my inner emotions while I’m drawing…

This portrait was made with charcoal and pastel on tinted & textured pastel paper. It’s a bit of a challenge this kind of texture. Not because of the texture itself, because I love drawing on a textured surface. But more because it’s a very regular pattern, which looks different than the more organic, irregular type of texture that I normally use. Still, I love how this portrait turned out, so who knows, maybe I’ll use it again…
