New charcoal portrait

Charcoal is and remains one of my most favorite drawing media! It’s so versatile and can be used for both expressive and subtle, detailed work.

This portrait was made with regular charcoal and charcoal pencil. I’ve also used a little bit of white soft pastel for the highlights. Drawn on tinted pastel paper, 24×32 cm (9.4 x 12.6 inch).

  1. I love your portraiture. I have used this image (with links to your page, where I found it, and attributing you as the artist), to show my students in my Intro to Drawing courses examples of contemporary charcoal portraiture. Very impressive and beautiful work!

    1. Thank you so much Joetta! Glad you enjoyed my work and thank you for introducing it to your students! 🙂
