I’m so busy restyling my website and working on my guest lessons (Let’s Face It and Love Art Happy Life) and especially my own upcoming portrait course Drawing in the Soul, that it is hard to find time to just draw for no other purpose than the fun of drawing…

But now I did, and I love it! This portrait is simply made with mechanical pencil (graphite) on cartridge paper. It’s small in size: 10.5 x 14.8 cm (4.13 x 5.83 inch), because for the way I draw that is exactly right for the small marks of my pencil.

It’s the same technique that I used for my portraits here and here. I love working this way: just drawing very lightly, over and over again, focusing on the tonal values. Quite meditative actually…
