Painting on a Gelli Print – video

I created my first video on YouTube, woohoo! 😀

It’s a time-lapse video showing how to use paint and colored pencil to create a female figure on a previously made monoprint (gelli print). The artwork is called I Carry You In My Soul and you can read a little more about it in this blogpost.

Supplies used in this video

  • Gelli print made on Bristol paper, 250 gsm, size A3 (11.7 x 16.5 inch)
  • Stabilo All pencil (black and white)
  • Acrylic paint
  • Flat angled brushes #8 and #4
  • Round brushes #1 and #3/0
  • Babywipes
  • Fingers 😉
  • Prismacolor Verithin colored pencils
  • Prismacolor Premier colored pencils
  • Craft knife
  • Clear gesso

I loved making this video! It was a lot of work since I had to learn everything from scratch, like how to shoot, which camera angle to choose, picking some nice background music and how to edit. But it was also a very creative and fun process and so I will definitely continue to develop this further and make more videos, eventually also on making gelli prints (as is requested by a lot of people).

I hope you’ll enjoy watching it!

  1. Wonderful! I love the painting and the video! I certainly hope you will create some videos on the way you use the Gelli Plate. The background is absolutely gorgeous and I’d love to see how you got the layers of rich detail.

    1. So happy you like it, Lynne! 🙂 Do you use the gelli plate as well? I am definitely working towards making videos on how I use the gelli plate. In fact, I am considering to develop an online course on this subject. But I will need some time to do that right, so in the meantime I’ll be creating this type of videos.
