Monoprinting fun!

Today I had a great time making monoprints with my gelli plate! Monoprinting is a form of printmaking that has images or lines that can only be made once, unlike most printmaking, where there are multiple originals. You can use various types of printing plates to make monoprints, such as glass or gelatin plates, but I used a gelli plate. This is a big hit right now: it looks and feels like a gelatine plate, but it’s actually made of mineral oil into a polymer material which is durable and reusable.

I made the prints with acrylic paint in various colors and layers on bristol paper andΒ  added some white lines with paint markers on some of the prints. Then I ripped the edges of the prints so that I got a more grungy look, and made the edges darker with ink. All prints are just a little under A4 size.

I really like how they turned out and will definitely create more, as it is also a perfect way catch up with the Art 101 challenge. So be prepared to see lots of monoprints here the coming period…! πŸ˜‰
