Many more monoprints!

Last week I really wanted to catch up with my backlog for the Art 101 challenge and I wanted to play some more with the gelli plate (see my previous blog post on making monoprints with the gelli plate)… and so I made many – and I mean MANY – more monoprints!

Just like last time I made them on Bristol paper, which is very smooth. On a few prints I then added some marker lines or used metallic acrylic paint through a stencil to create an extra layer of texture (the metallic paint is difficult to scan and can look brownish on the computer screen). Finally I tore and inked the edges of the paper. All prints are just a little under A4 size (approx. 8 x 11 inch).

So sit back, relax and scroll down to see the 40 new prints I made… 🙂

This is the only print where I left the torn edges white instead of inking them. The blue ‘halo’ around the edges is because I put a blue background behind the print when I scanned it, so you can see the edges.

Here you can see a vague figure in the center. I created this figure with a mask that I made based on my mixed media painting Turning in the Now.

Here again you can see the figure in the center, that I created using a mask I made from my mixed media painting Turning in the Now.

And on this last print again you can see the reference to my mixed media painting Turning in the Now.

There is one more of these whirling figures ‘hidden’ in one of these 40 prints, that I didn’t mention. Did you see it…?

  1. Juna, how beautiful! so rich in images in each design. Maybe each viewer will see something different. I like it very much!

  2. I like all the gelli plates because of the forms and the colors, but especially the ones where you also bring in a misty kind of figure…
