The Stupa

The Stupa

The whole day today I had this image in my head that I wanted to paint. I didn’t really understand what the meaning was and I actually found it a bit odd, but during the day, whenever I was a bit silent, this image popped up again. It was as if the image just wanted to be painted.

During the painting process it felt like the image evolved by itself. I like it when the painting gets a kind of mysterious atmosphere, especially when that happens without me consciously seeking this effect.

And while painting I finally understood what the meaning was. At least, for me. I prefer to keep that for myself, because I love it when the image touches someone and takes on a specific meaning for that person. I hope it will have a meaning for you too.

The Stupa, mixed media (acrylic paint and colored pencil) on canvas board. Size: 24 x 30 cm (9.4 x 11.8 inch).

  1. It is amazing how you have painted this, because I see the Stupa is turning around, creating this strong energy, while she is sitting still on top of it! Beautiful picture!

  2. Your art work has something mystical. I think everyone will have a different feeling with a painting like this. For me on this early morning it gives me a feeling of loneliness.
