I had this image in my head that I wanted to paint: a girl with a huge pearl on her head.
Didn’t find it easy to paint though, to find the right ‘tone’ and atmosphere. I was trying to find a balance between more and less figurative (not abstract), but it turned out rather figurative.
The pearl could also be a kind of sphere or a moon — just what the viewer sees in it. That’s the ambiguity that I like for my paintings. And I like the glow around the pearl. Can you see it?
Girl with Pearl, mixed media (acrylic paint, colored pencil and oil pastel) on canvas board. Size: 24 x 30 cm (9.4 x 11.8 inch).
I see a moon. I love the glow around it, was going to comment on that right off the bat!
Beauty. Floating in the clouds holding on to the moon.
Yes I can see it … Beautiful Juna! A lightness of being that I sense in your paintings is also here …
Yes, I definitely see the glow around the pearl…beautiful!
Beautiful!
