Cocooning

It took quite a long time before I figured out what I wanted to paint today. It’s been a busy period lately and today was the first day I could take some rest. And that’s the time that I usually feel a bit ‘foggy’.

All sorts of images and ideas popped into my head, but nothing really ‘clicked’. Too forced, too boring, or they just did not make me happy. The more I thought of anything, the more blocked I became. So then I decided to go out for a walk and get some fresh air.

Eh… well… that was not really fresh air, because it was tropically hot outside and very, very humid. The air felt like a thick blanket and did not quite clear my head. On the contrary: I felt as if I was walking in a cloud or in some sort of…

And then I knew what I would paint — just how I feel today.

Cocooning, mixed media (acrylic paint and colored pencil) on canvas board.
Size: 24 x 30 cm (9.4 x 11.8 inch).

  1. Love the subtle details… amazing how you seem to capture something beautifully simple yet so mysterious at the same time. Don’t you love the moments when something seems to touch you (whether physically, mentally, emotionally, etc) for inspiration?!

  2. ze raken me allemaal Juna. Deze maakt het een mooi setje van drie 🙂 Ik moet echt snel een keer bij je komen kijken!

Zou dat vrijdag de 13de kunnen?
